[True to her word, Allie shows up at his door about forty minutes later, bearing two coffees and a bag with half-a-dozen donuts from the coffee shop on the way here and looking much better than he is. Of course, she didn't spend last night drinking.]
Delivery!
[When she hands him his coffee, he might notice that her knuckles are a bit scraped up. It's possible she may have had to punch someone last night to extract him from the bar before escorting him home.]
[The door to Merlin's room was unlocked with a click, then slowly opened for her to enter. The young man was sitting cross legged in his unkempt bed still in a bathrobe and boxers. He took the coffee with a grateful, tired smile. He inhaled the vapors before taking a test sip.]
You are my knight in shiny armor, Allie. Praised by the Gods you are.
[Once his brain kicked in and his eyes refocused on his visitor, Merlin noticed the scratches.]
[Oh, Merlin. She drops a kiss to his forehead while his brain is booting up and tidies up a part of the bed enough that she can sit on it without landing on discarded clothing.]
I couldn't let my favorite sorcerer get hurt over pool.
[He could have cleaned up his room with a wave of his hand, but it's organized chaos is actually soothing to him. His eyes closed at her kiss, her connection to him is also something that soothes his ever running brain.]
Merlin handed her the necklace and watched with interest as she switched the pendants. He knew how much it meant to her and was glad that it wasn't lost forever. With her permission he set his coffee down on the sturdiest thing he could find, pile of books that cover his night stand, then placed her hand between his. He closed his bright blue eyes and said an incantation. With a tingle he could feel the magic within him flow through his fingers into her hand. After a moment he opened his eyes again and smiled at her.
"That should do it," he said as he let her go, then pushed a stray hair over her ear. "Perfect again." He grabbed the bag of donuts and handed her one. "I'll be peachy again once this food and coffee get into my system."
Her eyes flutter shut involuntarily at the touch of his hands. There aren't words to describe what it feels like to have Merlin's magic moving through her, but when she opens her eyes again, she does feel pretty perfect - not just her knuckles, which no longer show any signs of having been hurt, but in general.
She grins (blushes a little, really, at his comment) and takes the donut he offers her. "So, do you remember the reason you wanted to go pick fights at a bar, or is that a blank, too?"
Merlin shrugged as he chewed the bite in his mouth. He did remember what happened up to his fourth mug of beer and third shot of whatever they were serving him. Once he swallowed he answered her, "I went there for my psych thesis. You know the one about drunks and gambling. Guess I shouldn't have let them choose the drinks." He savored a big sip of coffee, Ali always knows how he'd like it. "Did I call you or were you following me?" He teased her with a wink.
"There may have been a text," she admits. Although it would have been cool if she had, like, a Merlin-sense that told her when he was in danger. Maybe she can manage that if she reincarnates again. "I put it together from there."
"Ah, you were worried about me," he was really touched by how much they've grown close over the years. How, even after high school, they call and talk to each other every day. They were best of friends and when she isn't near he feels like a part of him is missing.
"I should call you Sherlock from now on." He smiled fondly at her. Too bad he doesn't remember the things he said to her while intoxicated. Like how much he loves her and the kiss he tried to give her. (or did give her. How did her necklace end up on his floor?)
(An excellent question - the answer to which certainly has nothing to do with the way she pulled herself away because drunk Merlin is not a Merlin fit for making major decisions about their relationship. Which she'll totally figure out how to address. At some point.)
"It didn't actually take that much putting together," she admits. "You kind of went for one of the most convenient bars possible."
The wizard thought about the 'Sherlock' thing a moment longer with another sip of coffee, then made a face. "You're right. An 'A' name is a much better fit for you, like Arthur." He teased with a wink.
Merlin sat in silence as he ate another donut, getting white powder over his face and the front of his robe. He knew Allie would tell him anything he needed to know from last night. Out of anyone he knew it was her that he trusted the most. Hey, they had gone through a past life together after all.

Ouch. Those look fresh. You do that last night?

I couldn't let my favorite sorcerer get hurt over pool.
[He's so lucky to have her, really.]

You shouldn't get hurt over my little fun either.
[He knows how lucky he is.]
You want me to heal that?

[She grabs her necklace in the meantime and switches it with the backup, tucking the extraneous sword pendant into her jeans pocket for now.]
How you feeling?

Beat.
"Also, I don't think 'Sherlock' really fits me."
