As a representation of her mind, the setting does not bode well. Modern decor clashes with furnishings from her time at Camelot, and textures and colors just... flake off here and there. It's an absolute wonder that a mind this confused is able to call out for help at all, ancient magic and prophecy tying them together or not.
(She remembers... eating in the caf, trying to juggle a ham sandwich and about thirty pages of reading due in an hour. She turned away for a moment to dig something out of her bag, and then... really sick, dizzy and confused and exhausted. Then she was standing, and she reached for her phone - )
"Miles?"
She's still holding it, actually, except everything's changed around her, and she's not sure when that happened.

He let himself be pulled, then, actually be summoned through space and time until he appeared in--what sort of palce was this?
But this place. This place had--He rushed to Allie's side and cradled her in his arms. She was real. She was real.
"Allie? Allie, stay with me."
no subject
No. No, this was wrong. She hadn't meant to summon him, come here. "No, I need to - I need to go back."
(And she does, in a way, consciousness flickering in and out of her eyes as she sees the caf again, someone she thinks she might recognize trying to talk to her, and then nothing.)
" - How did I get here?"
no subject
"Where are your knights? Where's Miles?" He mentally cursed the future him for not being at her side at a moment like this. He could only do so much from the distant past.
no subject
Allie, can you hear me? Give me some kind of sign if you understand what I'm saying.
"I think I'm blacking out."
no subject
Merlin kissed her, trying to coax her to stay awake. "Now why would you want to do that? Didn't you say you were going to hang me for treason?" he tried to joke with a weak smile. "come on, my liege, you can't give into it. Not now."
Damn it all, where was Miles?
"Tell me about your civil law. I promise. No distraction this time."
no subject
"I mean when I'm here. I don't think I can black out in a blackout."
God, she just wishes she could be quiet and think clearly for a minute. Her head is pounding. She groans and tries to massage her temple.
"How did I get here?"
so are they in dreamspace or physical space and she was just seeing things? just to clarify
He chuckled and looked around.
"Place your focus on me, all right?" he asked, caressing her cheek. "Focus on my voice. On anything you'd like. WHere's Miles?"
no subject
As a safe place, this sucks. It's not that she's not comforted by the presence of her oldest friend and adviser, it's just that. Well.
She doesn't feel like she's maintaining the safe space very well, if a handful of rotted furniture and visuals that keep bleeding into each other like a third grader's finger-painting.
no subject
When their surroundings started to bleed into each other, he caressed her cheek and kissed her again.
"Allie, Allie, focus. You need to wake up. How else will you be able to usher in that Golden Age of yours, hmm?" he prodded gently. "Please, Allie, you can do it. You can fight this."
Elsewhere, Miles had just finished lecture, actually finding it boring since he finished his assignment weeks ago. When his phone rang, he was surprised to see Allie's number.
"Hell--" Sharp pain shot through his mind.
Allie. Keeling over from poison.
He took off like a shot to the cafe where he was supposed to meet her.

(Out in reality, a crowd has gathered around Allie, from interested and concerned onlookers to classmates alike. There's no member of the Order or the Table with her, which is almost unheard-of, these days - there's usually one around, acting as a silent bodyguard. Someone's already called 911, at least.)
"Sorry I dragged you into this." There's not much he can do, anyway. She thinks.

Miles ran like his life depended on it. Well. Allie's life depended on it. He arrived just a few seconds after the paramedics arrived to wheel out his friend. "Allie!" He could feel it. The dark magic that was slowly taking over her.
Shit. Shit. But there was another presence with her. Something good, at least. But...who was it? Doesn't matter. It was good, right? He focused to counteract the spell on her.
no subject
It's kind of weird to think about, actually. She considered trying to talk to Miles about that, but never got further than thinking hey, Miles, I think I slept with your past incarnation. She guesses she might not be able to now.
Weird to think about.
(Then his voice catches her ear, and she - hears it, sort of, echoing through her mind.)
She frowns, glancing up at Merlin's face like she expected him to have suddenly changed. " - Miles?"
no subject
"Please, please, you gotta let me up," he begged the nurses. "That's my best friend that's just been wheeled in." He needed to continue the counterspell. They shook their heads. He cursed under his breath.
Merlin, however, was holding Allie whenever she appeared in the unconscious again. It hurt that she called out a different name but he nodded. "Good, good, call for him, Allie. Call for Miles."
no subject
Her vision flickers, for a second, giving her a brief view of someone's face. Allie frowns when she finds herself back with Merlin after almost getting it, and forces herself to try harder.
Reaching consciousness again is like struggling to the surface of an ocean and not being quite able to keep her head above water. "Miles?" She can't exactly shout, but she does clumsily try to push past whoever's trying to tend to her. An unexpected burst of adrenaline gets her off the bed, but that's about it.
And she opens her eyes with Merlin again, feeling more exhausted than before.
no subject
She disappeared. Then reappeared again. Merlin held her, kissed her and caressed her face. "I'm in the past, Allie," he whispered. "You belong in the future. Go." He used his own magic to dispel this place of its darkness and tatters. Instead, sunlight poured in with the tapestries rich and vibrant once more. He could clear the poison in her mind. It was up to the strange magic to clear the poison in her veins.
How sweet. This is the new him's powers coursing, he knew it. Merlin held her tightly. "Go on. Go into the future, Allie. There's nothing in old Camelot for you, all right?"
Miles heard his name being shouted and he was off like a shot, moving around doctors and nurses. He called out a spell to finish the counter spell so that the drugs would be taken completely in a magical sense. The doctors will need to detox her in the medical sense.
no subject
Another kiss for him, slow and sweet. "And just when the place started looking pretty."
Awareness hits her harder, this time - some of the fog in her mind gone but replaced by exhaustion. The nurse is just trying to get her settled into bed again, inserting an IV just as she wakes up (lucky her). She wants to get up again and go look for Miles (it's important, she knows it's important, even if the bits and pieces of what she and Merlin spoke about are already starting to fragment), but her limbs are way too heavy and uncooperative.
"Where's - " She wants to say Miles or even where am I, but the nurse shushes her kindly.

Merlin slipped back into consciousness in Camelot to find Arthur and the rest of his knights surrounding him. He waved them off. "I'm all right." Arthur didn't believe him. he laughed a little. "I'm all right, Arthur."
no subject
It takes several hours (and visits from other members of the Table and the Order, who want to see her for themselves but have enough respect for the bond between their King and Merlin-Miles that they allow him most uninterrupted time with her) before she's actually coherent enough again to put together hey, Miles is here and it's important to talk to Miles.
"...Hey?"
no subject
"You know, you really should plan these death threats better. Do it when I'm not in class," came Miles' quick quip. "You're lucky I just got out. What happened? One minute you're fine. The next, you're being hauled away. And all sorts of magic? What's up with that? Did you go to Hogwarts in the last hour?"
oh man, there goes that metaphorical can of beans. oops.
So maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that, instead of something intelligent, what pops out of her mouth is: "I kissed older-you."
Maybe she should just go back to being unconscious.
oops
"What?"
What the hell did she mean kissed older him?
good luck with that, Miles.
She sits up, but there's an alarming amount of dizziness waiting for her once her head changes position. " - Can I just go back to sleep now?"
Since she's already screwed this up.
no subject
oh god allie stop trying to think about it until you're at least 80% okay.

She feels vaguely like she should offer to make it up to him for getting confused and sort-of mistaking him for himself.
After a concerted effort, Allie manages to flop her hands over her face, partly to cover up any shame and/or confusion and partly because the light's starting to hurt her eyes. "I do not feel like I'm using this body right."
(She means she feels weird and disconnected and make it stop.)
no subject
"That ought to help you out without the man putting more drugs into your body," he muttered. "Now why don't you start at the part where you make sense?"
no subject
She'd really like to just go back to sleep now. That would be so nice. "Can we start over again?"
no subject
"Yeah, especially the part where you kissed older me?" He asked, still incredulous about it.
no subject
She winces.
"It's complicated?"
no subject
"Try again." Because there was no way he could be in two places at once. Right?
no subject
She tries to sink, slowly, underneath the bedcovers until she doesn't have to look at him anymore.
"Multiple times?"
no subject
He was being calm. He was being really calm about it. "How did you summon the first time? And why did you do it more than once? Allie, I'm always a text away."
no subject
And if only her eyes are showing over that blanket, then he can't see the blush that's finally starting to give her face some color again, right?
no subject
Oh he sees it all right. "Allie. What did you DO?" Still being calm even though he's about to break something with his grip. He'd remember if something like that happened, right? Plus he had been steady with Vanessa for a year.
no subject
Now she's just... hiding under the blanket. God, what an amazing king she is. "Can we talk about this later?"
no subject
"Allie..." He's frustrated. What the hell? He thought they lest behind dodging questions in high school. He yanks the blanket down a little and gave his best stern look.
no subject
And maybe it's kind of low to use convalescence to slip out of this conversation right now, but it's also really true. His spell may be keeping her head clear, but the rest of her body is not doing so great.
"Please? Later?"
no subject
Fine. She can win this time but he's not going anywhere. He planted himself in that chair and stared her down. "Soon."
